La Costa's
well-known resort course and health spa make it the perfect setting for those seeking an abundance of recreational amenities and challenging golf in a traditional country club setting. La Costa's golf courses, which have hosted the PGA Tournament of Champions tour for 30 years, offer plenty of challenge for professional level golfers and amateurs alike. Site of the Acura Classic, prelude to the U.S. Open, La Costa is also well known for it's active Tennis Club, featuring a 21-court championship facility and professional staff. Much of the area surrounding the resort was developed in the late 1970's. Many unique residences and condo communities dot the surrounding hills around the course, offering a wide price range and a wonderfully eclectic neighborhood, in contrast to today's modern golf developments which tend toward a somewhat boring homogenity.

- Golf: 6,987-yard course with gently sloping, though very demanding fairways and treacherous, well-manicured greens. The North course is wider with rolling terrain, while the South is much tighter and requires accuracy amidst water and tree-lined fairways. LaCosta is the site of the PGA Tour's Anderson Consulting Match Play World Golf Championship. Practice range and putting green. Full pro shop services and instruction available. Tennis enthusiasts can choose from three different court surfaces: grass, French clay and hard courts.
- Green Fees: La Costa has just opened the course
for public play; rates are as follows: $195 (includes cart and driving range); twilight after 12:30pm is $105, including cart and range. Guests of members pay $95 and twilight $60.
- Clubhouse: Its new owners plan to renovate the club, while a bit worn, still retains its elegant quality. Traditional clubhouse and restaurant, including a well-equipped pro shop, snack bar; pool, and nice outdoor dining area for alfresco lunching and brunching. La Costa offers three restaurants, which serve a wide variety of fresh, interesting cuisine. Banquet facilities also available. Retail shops closed for remodeling.
- Community Highlights: Shopping and convenience services nearby, several good area restaurants, new post office, theater, local businesses and area beaches. The new, state-of-the-art Carlsbad City Library is rated one of the ten best in the country, just up the street. A thriving corporate culture has emerged, making Carlsbad one of San Diego's major business hubs.
- Schools: La Costa Meadows elementary school, middle school, San Marcos High School
- City Highlights: The community of La Costa was developed in the 70's around the world famous spa and resort and is actually south Carlsbad, offering an eclectic mix of older homes as well as some newer home communities. Area residents can enjoy the world famous San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, unlimited water sports, Padres Baseball, Chargers Football, Del Mar Thoroughbred Racing, world-class restaurants, ballooning, regional wineries and fantastic beaches.
