Built in 1994, the
gated master-planned golf community of Rancho San Pasqual lies in a natural valley
surrounded by dramatic boulder-covered hills, just up the road from several local
area wineries and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Narrow fairways, eight lakes,
and rolling terrain offer plenty of challenge on this Public course, and the
views from the elevated tees are wonderful of the surrounding area. Warmer winter
temperatures make this course enjoyable to play year-round, except maybe in August,
when you'll want a morning tee time. Homes in the well-maintained gated community
start at around $325,000.

- Golf: Public. 6,417-yard, Par 72. Driving range and practice greens. Full pro shop facilities and instruction available. The greens here are moderately fast and the deep rough along the fairways keep out those afraid to negotiate area snakes. Better to let the ball lie, and add a stroke, if you ask me. One of the most popular holes, the 6th, features a beautiful lake and waterfall with a footbridge to a tight green.
- Green Fees: Rates $37-$65; call pro shop for information on policies and specials. Great twilight rates, plus special rates for Eagle Crest residents.
- Clubhouse: A newly remodeled clubhouse offers snacks and refreshments and a small retail shop. There is a new tournament pavilion as well.
- Community Highlights: Rancho San Pasqual is in a remote valley, but the community itself is always bustling with activity. There is a beautiful pool area, and the charming white fenced streets are always kept clean and well-landscaped.
- Schools: Contact the Escondido School District for
information on area schools.
- City Highlights: Escondido boasts the Center for the Performing Arts if you need a dose of culture; here you'll find art exhibits, musical performances and plays to attend. Locals enjoy the world famous San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park-which is just up the road, Sea World, unlimited water sports, Padres Baseball, Chargers Football, Del Mar Thoroughbred Racing, world-class restaurants, ballooning, regional wineries and fantastic beaches.
- Proximity: About an hour from downtown and San Diego Internat'l Airport.
- Accommodations: Nothing in the immediate area, but some lodging options in Escondido, about 15 minutes away.
- Home Prices: Single family homes in the gated community
of Rancho San Pasqual start at around $325,000. View available properties...
