The island location makes for a fairly flat course which is easy to walk, but the views are enough to take your breath away. Bordered by both San Diego and Glorietta Bays, several holes offer fabulous views of downtown's progressive skyline and sailboat-laden harbor. The fairways are spacious, but you'll get plenty of challenge from the many trees and treacherous sand traps. Greens tend to be large and slope back to front and are in consistently good shape.

- Golf: 6,317-yard, Par 72. The course was built in 1957. Driving range and practice greens, plus full pro shop facilities and instruction available. There are three holes with water to negotiate. Despite the enormous amount of play this course gets (a whopping 110,000 rounds annually) it remains in excellent condition. The course, a mix of bermuda-kikuyu grasses, is built on sand reclaimed from the bottom of the bay. When rain closes many of the other area courses, Coronado's usually open.
- Green Fees: Very reasonable for its location and layout: $34 includes cart; call pro shop for additional information on fees, policies and specials. Twilight rates available as well.
- Clubhouse: Traditional Clubhouse with basic amenities.
- Community Highlights: The Hotel Del Coronado, opened in 1888 remains one of San Diego's proudest landmarks. Coronado residents frequent the Grand Victorian Hotel for dinner, lounge entertainment, and high tea. It is reputed to be one of the largest wooden structures in the world, and has been visited by many a famous diplomat and movie star. When it opened, Grover Cleveland was President, and Wyatt Earp was in Tombstone. For more information or reservations, call (800) 468-3533.
- Schools: Contact the Coronado School District for
area school information.
- City Highlights: Likened to Nantucket in the East, Coronado is an island; a private oasis accessed by the beautiful Bay Bridge, spanning San Diego's huge sailboat-ridden bay, lying directly across from downtown. Sailing is the preferred pasttime here and on a clear day the harbor is filled with many happy boaters. In addition to Coronado Golf Club, there is an 18-hole military course here as well. A short drive away are the world famous San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, unlimited water sports, Padres Baseball, Chargers Football, Del Mar Thoroughbred Racing, world-class restaurants, ballooning, regional wineries and fantastic beaches.
- Proximity: About ten minutes from downtown and San Diego Internat'l Airport.
- Accommodations: Several resort hotels nearby.
- Home Prices: From $500,000 for attached; $800,000 and up for detached. View Available Properties...
